Please ensure that the mesh is in your area before proceeding. At the moment, the all of Scarborough and Red Hill are covered. If you live in Kommetjie, please email Francois to find out whether you can receive signal.
The required hardware to connect to the mesh is a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router. Miro Distribution are in Centurion Park near Montague Gardens (tel.555 3207) and sell them for about R650, but only to dealers. They are open to new dealer applications; otherwise you can email David to order via a dealer account.
Make sure that you order the Linksys WRT54GL - no substitutes accepted ;^)
Once you have the WRT54GL, you may configure it yourself or email Sam or Marcel to have him flash, configure and install it for you for R100.
If you have a wireless-enabled laptop and good "communimesh" signal, you may configure it yourself or have one of the above technicians install and configure it for you for R100.
The SWUG Internet gateway costs R2000 a month. All mesh users are encouraged to contribute monthly to the gateway costs. In return, they receive preferential Internet access, while still ensuring that access is available to everyone. If you would like to help, please see Feed the Mesh
