Feed the Mesh

The SWUG Internet gateway is paid for by voluntary contributions from mesh users. Funds are only used for monthly buying of bandwidth, gateway hardware and bank charges. No SWUG member receives any renumeration for either hardware or service provision.

We encourage everyone who can to contribute R100 per month to pay for the gateway. In return, contributors receive a larger bandwidth allocation, while everyone is still able to access the Internet. As the mesh grows, more people will contribute and we shall have a surplus of funds in the account. Once the projected income is sufficient to increase the line speed, we shall do so, ensuring that we don't run out of bandwidth.

To contribute to the Internet gateway, you need to provide your "MAC Address" as the deposit reference:

1. In Windows, on the machine that you wish to subscribe, click Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt.

2. Type ipconfig /all and press enter.

3. Find the "Physical Address" of your "Local Area Connection". It should look something like 00-0b-c2-4e-55-fd. Use this as your reference (without the dashes, i.e. 000bc24e55fd) when depositing into the SWUG bank account. This will allow us to automatically prioritize your machine's Internet traffic.

Payments without the MAC address reference cannot be used to prioritize traffic and so will be regarded as an (appreciated) anonymous donation.

The SWUG bank account details are:

Bank: FNB
Branch: Fish Hoek 202309
Name: SWUG
Number: 62137579366
Type: Current

We would appreciate a stop order or other scheduled payment of R100 per month, payable on the first of every month or within 3 days thereof. This will ensure a consistent income. If you are averse to scheduled payments, that's fine - just please make sure you don't forget.

Thank you again for your support.
